With the launch of the Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” film, do you feel inspired to take to the moors of Yorkshire? If so, this is the hike for you, it has it all: stunning views across the valley, wind swept bleakness, remoteness and a number of the key locations in the film.

The walk starts at Surrender Bridge, where there is a small car park. From the car park, walk across the bridge which you should recognise from the film: on your right there is Surrender Smelt Mill, which you can go and have a look at, but our walk turns left and along a well-made farm track. Follow this track and eventually you come across Old Gang Smelt Mill, which you should also recognise from the film.

Having admired the buildings, carry on up the path which will gradually bend left. Eventually you will reach a particular desolate place of ancient mine spoil heaps ironically called Merry Field. Keep going and you will reach the Gunnerside Ghyll valley which you will follow high up ultimately arriving at Winterings, a collection of barns. Continue until you arrive at the end of a small road. In you want the pub detour, go down the road to Gunnerside. If you want to continue on the walk, turn right over a stile and onto the Corpse Way.

Follow the Corpse Way and enjoy the views. You will reach Blades above Low Row after about 45 minutes. Pass through the Hamlet onto the moor path and back to the car park.
